Unit 2 explains Parts of speech.The simplest sentence can be divided into subject, verb, object and each can be further classified according to its purpose and the meaning. Nouns used as Names,people,animals etc. Main types of nouns are common,Proper,compound,abstract,collective nouns. There are countable e.g-books nouns and uncountable nouns e.g-water. Adjectives describe nouns such as people and things.Comparisons of adjectives can be described as Superlatives and comparative adjectives. Articles of a sentence can be Definite articles-used when there is a specific member of a group and Indefinite article-used when there is a member of a group used with singular nouns.(a,an). when there are uncountable nouns in plural zero article is used.e.g -Bananas are yellow. Verbs are mainly devided in to state verbs and action verbs.when the verb is directly followed by an object it is called Transitive verbs and When its not directly followed by an object its called intransitive verbs.Some times Intransitive verbs are followed by Infinitives. e.g-he hopes to come back. Adverbs add meaning or information to the action, quality or state denoted by a verb. there are five main types of verb as Manner, place, time, degree, frequency. Auxiliary verbs help to form tenses.e.g Do.Have,be. The ing form f a verb used as a noun (as a subject or object).e.g Playing Pronouns are used in place of more precious nouns or noun phrases. Pronouns can be categorized as Personal e.g I,Me Possessive e.g mine ,yours Reflexive e.g myself ,yourself and Relative e.g who, which. prepositions show the relationship between a noun or a pronoun.There are three types of prepositions as Time-at,on Movement-from,two Place-in,at. conjunctions join words or groups in a sentence.e.g and,but,yet,or,nor.
