The management of the classroom was the topic of focus for this unit, discussing various behavioral tools at the teacher’s disposal including use of voice, gesture, language and eye contact. Furthermore, differing student configurations and classroom layouts were examined in terms of their strengths and weaknesses, such as whether students were arranged as a class, in groups, pairs or individuals, and whether desks were placed in rows, a horse-shoe shape, in groups or individually. Finally, methods of preventing and dealing with misbehavior were outlined including the use of discipline in line with the school’s code as well as maintain good rapport with the students in the class.
