As with the unit on present tenses, this unit compared the use of past simple, continuous, perfect, and perfect continuous by providing clear and thoroughly worked examples. Additionally, each concept was accompanied by various teaching ideas to help propagate these notions to a non-native English class. Particularly, the use of past perfect continuous is rare yet serves a specific purpose to inform that a past event had been in occurrence up until another past reference point, and therefore should be taught with special consideration.
