This unit is about English grammar and parts of speech. The unit is complex and detailed looking at the many and varied parts of speech in the English language and how they can be used in different contexts. I found this unit interesting and surprisingly challenging. I am a native English speaker and have used English all my life. What intrigued me was how much of my usage of language is based on what I "know' is correct by instinct and experience, rather than actually knowing and applying the rule. Doing this unit has confirmed I need to do further study to clarify and confirm my knowledge of different parts of speech and applicable rules to ensure I am teaching correctly and confidently.
