This unit covers the receptive skills, listening and reading. These are just as important as the other skills for understanding a new language. We read in any language for a purpose and for entertainment. Students should be taught several skills to aid in their understanding of the English language. These skills are predictive, scanning, skimming, detailed information and deductive skill. These will help students to be better able to determine their level of understanding of any content they might read or listen to. These skills may be adaptable for either listening or reading.
