During this unit I've learnt about what makes a good teacher and what makes a good learner. For a good teacher, you have to have passion about your job, have good personality and the skills about teaching. For a good learner, you need to have the willingness to practice and listen, a desire to learn, a method about how to learn and not afraid of making mistakes. There are different roles for a teacher, like Manager Organizer Assessor Prompter Tutor Participant Resource Model and Observer. A good teacher should be able to change roles during different situation. Also I've learnt the difference between young learners and adults, when studying English, they face different problems and should be taught in different methods. For instant, adults have stronger motivation but they also face the problem of fearing losing faces, meanwhile young learners are not afraid of make mistakes but they have less motivation. Based on the students' English ability, there are different levels to measure them. Common one such as Beginners Elementary Pre-intermediate Intermediate Upper intermediate and Advanced. There is also a common European framework. At the end, I've learned the motivation for different students to study English. By learning this unit, I've gained a clearer view about roles and structures, the needs for different students at different levels, which will help me to improve myself and my class to be more suitable and interesting for those different needs.
