This unit discusses the numerous different types of tests used to asses students and the unique purposes of each. This unit also describes a number of general external exams that are taken by people who are not native English speakers to determine the proficiency in English and are sometimes required in order to study in some universities and work in English speaking countries. This unit explained the purpose of many different tests ranging from tests that are meant to asses students' current language level as well as tests meant to prepare students for end of the term exams and help track progress.
