This lesson gave us two sample lessons that we can compare. In the first lesson the teacher didn't demonstrate clearly the Engage activity so that the students were not engaged and didn't understand why he triggered the grammar lesson which is auxiliary verbs. The students didn't actively participate in the Study and Activate activities, meanwhile the teacher was not much of a help either. In the second lesson, the teacher made the student more engaged in the activity by thinking of as many animals as they could. The teacher also knew them by names. In the Study phase, the teacher linked the grammar issues with the animals they mentioned in the first phase, which is can/can't. The straight ESA approach in this lesson became more effective as the students got the chance to practice and activate what they had learnt throughout the lesson.
