From watching the videos, I have learned how big a difference to the success of a lesson and the engagement levels of the students a teachers demeanour can be. In the first video, the students were quiet, reluctant to answer, confused and bored. This was because the teacher was grumpy, patronising, unapproachable and seemed to care little for each student or their learning. In the second video the students were enguaged, happy and willing participants. The teacher was friendly, made sure all got the chance to speak and tried hard to use the students names. His explanations were clearer and the tasks more fun. This made the second lesson far more successful.
