This unit mainly introduces the four past tenses, past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous.
Past simple is usually used when the time is given, when the time is asked about and when the action clearly took place at a definite time even though this time is not mentioned, the regular verbs ends with -ed and there are also a lot of irregular verbs.
Past continuous is mainly used for interrupted past actions, gradual development etc.
The past perfect is the equivalent of present perfect, and past perfect continuous is mainly used to talk about longer actions or situations in the past that had been going on continuously up to the past moment that we are thinking about.
