Though this unit was short it was packed with a lot of new and useful information. It gave wonderful advice on how to format a class and makes the case that tests should not the be-all, end-all focus of a class. This is refreshing, but a little sad. The various language courses I have taken over the years have focused primarily on learning material for an upcoming test or dictation of meaning. When words are divorced from their meaning, they become difficult to retain and when material is learned for a test it is the first thing dumped by the mind. The focus on progress through observation, rather than arbitrary exams, is heartening and something I wholly plan to utilize.
