This lesson was about the importance of planning for a lesson, how a lesson plan should be written down, being organized, what should be included in a lesson plan, examples of lesson plan templates and how to sequence lesson plan activities. From my experiences even in physical education, it is extremely important to have lesson plans for many reasons. Lesson plans not only make sure that your students are reaching the targeting learning objective, but they help to make sure you stay organized and prevent behavior problems. While it is not necessary to be inflexible when it comes to teaching a lesson, I have always found that it is better to have ideas planned in case things go faster then expected. Lesson plans help prevent behavior problems because it reduces time in between activities, keeps the teacher organizes, and makes sure not to loose students interest because they do not understand the flow of the lesson. In this unit I learned about a template that adheres to the ESA guidelines of using Engage, Study and Activate. While this lesson plan is a little different then the ones I have used in my classes, the general information and ideas are the same. I like how the plan illustrates the sequence of events, the timing, and the interaction.
