This unit effectively described and broke down certain details of engagement in the classroom. I was able to learn the different approaches students may have in their receptive skills and why they may be listening. For example, I was able to differentiate the motives for a student's listening and how may it differ outside of the classroom. The breakdown of the different receptive skills also made me aware that at different times the students will be needed to perform different skills. Strengthening and enabling a mix of these skills will only enable them to have a more comprehensive approach and engagement with the English language.
