In productive skills, writing is the most neglected. Students should be encouraged by having topics relative to their experiences. Accuracy and fluency are two major areas teachers are concerned with. During Engage and Study phase, accuracy is the aim, while fluency is the aim during the Activate phase, especially with creative writing. Teachers can used controlled activities (accuracy-based), guided (less based on accuracy), and creative activities (fluency-based). After lessons, always give feedback, emphasizing what students did correctly, and offer suggestions on correcting language. To aid teachers later, jotting down notes on which areas were a struggle is helpful, while handling common mistakes with more practice. Writing styles vary from student to student, but teachers can help with punctuation and spelling by exposing the class to many different forms of texts.
