This unit covered the parts of speech, one aspect of English grammar. More specifically, it went over types of words eg. nouns, pronouns, articles, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions, and gerunds. It described the role each part of speech plays in a sentence, and how they combine to form meaning. Many of the word categories contain subcategories (like transitive and intransitive verbs) or forms (like singular and plural nouns). The unit went over how to determine and spell those forms. And of course, the unit made clear that in English nearly every rule of grammar has exceptions and irregularities that must be learned on a case by case basis.
