This unit covered the evaluation of students' skills through testing. It went over the reasons for evaluating English skills, before, during and after a course, both for the students and for the teachers. It also got into the different types of tests that are used at different stages and for different purposes and gave examples of different external examinations and what their purposes are. A sample placement test was given to show what kinds of skills might be tested for.
