This unit has taught me the different theories, methods, and techniques to use in the classroom when teaching English abroad. Each method and technique have pros and cons for teachers and students. The teacher should be able to decide which methodology is best for his or her students. It is imperative for teachers to use the ESA- Engage, Study, and Activate approach. This especially allows new teaches flexibility in the classroom. Straight Arrow, Boomerang, and Patchwork ESA lessons were all introduced to give explicit examples of how to implement the ESA method. When students are stimulated through engaging activates they can understand and construct the language fluently with the rest of their language knowledge. It is also important to use the correction techniques so the students are not discouraged and instead encouraged. It is important for the teacher to receive feedback as well to see if the lesson was understood and what could be changed or modified in the future.
