This unit was very helpful in giving me a basic understanding as to the roles of a teacher and of the learner. The ideas of what makes a good teacher (kind, motivating, engaging, knowledgeable, etc) were fairly self-explanatory, but I did not fully understand the roles and educator plays. I never realize how many different important roles a teacher can undertake in the classroom. I understood the basic concepts of being an assessor, classroom manager, and facilitator, but had not given much thought to the complexities of being a prompter or observer. This unit showed me there are different complexities with teaching different age groups, and that each student will pose different challenges in teaching them.
