Grammar is the most essential building block of language, but it is usually underrepresented in our own education, I haven’t had a grammar course since junior high, unless we pursue a writing or education curriculum in college. Therefore, to teach our students we must brush up on this so we know how to accurately explain the tenses and also correct any errors. Students often struggle with it more if their own language has fewer or less definite tenses than English. We must be creative to create exercises for them to see where in “time” each tense exists in relation to the others.
