Tests are basically of five types
Placement test
Diagnostic test
Progress test
Practice test and External exams.
External proficiency test is also divided into three categories.
General English(KET, PET,FCE, CAE and CPE)
Business English(BEC, BULATS, TOEIC)
Academic English(TOEFL, IELTS)
Test is either internal or external but it is helpful for a teacher to learn the proficiency level of his/her students.
