This unit focused on teaching a new language, namely teaching vocabulary, grammar and the function of language. In teaching vocabulary, it is important that the teacher is aware of what makes learning vocabulary difficult or easy. Also, it is important that teacher selects the vocabularies that are appropriate to the students needs and the task at hand, the frequency and coverage of the words and how teachable the words are. When teaching grammar, the level of the student is taken into consideration when explaining the meaning of the sentences, how the sentences are used, the patterns and forms of sentences and the variations between written and spoken form of the language. Lastly, the unit focused on teaching the function of the language. This area includes inviting, agreeing, disagreeing, refusing, etc. Teaching language functions also includes teaching the appropriate way of using the language.
