Not all classes are made up of regular adult learners. Young learners may not have made the choice to study English for themselves and may not see the benefit of learning it so may lack motivation. On the other hand they are likely to pick up the language much more readily and easily due to their young brains. Another special group is businesses. When teaching people English for use in their work or business it is important to discuss with them what their needs are. It is not necessary to be an expert in their field of expertise. In fact it can be helpful to require students to teach their expertise to the teacher via the medium of English. Depending on the group, the mix of abilities, native languages, the ages, life circumstances and needs, the teaching methods and planning used need to be adapted in order for students to feel the most benefit.
