The grammar-translation method has been widely used in Korea. As a result, most adult Koreans don't know how to speak English because it's not the most effective method for communicating in English. I personally taught myself how to speak English later on. I believe it was more like audio linguial way, listening to lines from English movies, English pop music, repeating the pronunciation multiple times. After reviewing ESA method, I want to try teaching my students this way to yield better results.
