This lesson gave me the knowledge to utilize when teaching my class on understanding the English language. That our receptive skills are for our divided between pleasure and purpose. These receptive skills are divided into five groups in the use of them and how your topic can effect how your students will wish to read or listen depends greatly on your topic. You will need a topic that is well rounded for my students as well as myself. This way I can keep I get them reading with both pleasure and purpose and avoid them just skimming, scanning, and predicting the information that is presented to them.
