According to this particular Unit i learnt that Parts of Speech is an English grammar and also a category of words which have similar grammatical properties. In other words, there are Eight main Parts of Speech in the English Language which are Nouns,Pronoun,Adverb,Adjective,Article,Verb,Gerund,preposition/Conjunction.And each and everyone of them has it's own purpose and meaning it adds in a sentence. A sentence must consist of at least a subject and a verb.
