I have learned the basic parts of speech and a few additional ways which they are classified. The parts of speech include: articles, nouns, verbs, prepositions, gerunds, adjectives, adverbs and prepositions/conjunctions. The parts of speech were further broken done into other categories within the unit. For example, there are countable nouns and uncountable nouns. Another example given were adverbs of frequency and degree. Generally speaking, when teaching English it is important to be able to explain and give examples of the parts of speech to help students speak and write English.
