Before reading through this unit I was not familiar with how to clearly explain the past perfect or past perfect continuous forms of verbs. If I as a native speaker can find this confusing, foreign language learners of English must have an even more difficult time comprehending this aspect of grammar. I like the suggested activities for this unit including the detective game, the curriculum vitae, and the memory game. I think the past tense is especially important for understanding news and stories which are almost always told in the past tense.
