I think the writing of lesson plans is important insofar as it gives the teacher an idea of how the lesson is progressing. The unit points out that it could be easy for an inexperienced teacher to become bogged down in a particular phase of the lesson, running out of time and not achieving the aims of that lesson. A glance at the lesson plan would enable the teacher to adapt and try to be more flexible in managing the lesson.
