This was a really interesting unit, starting with the intonations and how they carry a message in the sentence. Techniques for indicating and teaching these was very helpful. Delving into 'stressed' words and how much they can change the meaning of a sentence was a very good example - one sentence could have 6 different meanings depending on which word is stressed.
The phonemic symbols and alphabet seem daunting but it is actually very easy to understand. Further on to Articulation; this seemed complex at first but after reading and practicing some of these methods out loud it made sense. The teaching techniques in this area will come in very handy - at least point me in the right direction. It will be a fun subject to teach - i think in 'slots' would be most beneficial as well as when required, combining this throughout lessons will be a good way for students to get a good grasp on it and keep up momentum.
