In this unit I learned about the importance of speech in language. I learned the various types of sounds that the mouth can make. These include fricative, affricative, lateral, and approximate. Next, I learned the importance of the Phonetic Alphabet. The possible sounds found in a language can be described using this alphabet. This allows the teacher the ability to teach a word through the sounds that are made within the word. This allows for greater accuracy of pronunciation.
