Unit 2 covered topics, that make up the parts of speech. The parts of speech consist of the components that make up a sentence, such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, and averbs. As parts of speech these basic components can have various types, and functions. Nouns are use for names, people, places, things, and qualities. Certain types of nouns are common nouns(non-capital), proper nouns(capital), compound(Two-nouns in one), abstract nouns(can't be touch) and collective nouns(groups). Adjectives are used to describe the noun. When adjectives are used to compare, it can define something as good or bad, better or worse(comparative), or something as the best and the worst(superlative). Verbs are known as the "doing" words. There are two types of verbs, transitive and intransitive. Transitive verbs are verbs that can be directly followed by an object, while an intransitive verb cannot. The main forms of verbs, are the base form, past simple, past participle, and present participle, which are used to distinguished if the action happen in the past, present, or in the future. Adverbs are qualities or status denoted by a verbs, that explain manner, place, time, degree and frequency. These are the main components of a sentence, other components such as articles, pronouns, prepositions, and conjunction are important in the structure of the sentence.
