Unit 16 is about reported speech and conditionals. It takes the knowledge of the units dealing with past tenses and present tenses and make it more complex. Indeed, here the students have to juggle with tenses from direct speech and reported speech. Depending on the conditional, the meaning and the tense vary. It may be useful to use a timeline or a diagram so as to make it clear or clearer to the students. It is needed to take it slow, to approach it in different ways if the students do not get it.
