This unit gave a brief overview of common problem situations in the classroom. I agree that failing to establish rapport with students is cause for many problems. Students who do not feel connected with the teacher and/or classmates are less likely to ask important questions, take lessons seriously, and enjoy coming to class. I have taught in multi-level and multi-ability classrooms and many of the suggestions in this unit are things that I have tried. Every class is different, so sometimes you just have to keep trying until you find the right balance.
