Unit 12 deals with the rest of the four skills, namely the productive skills speaking and writing. Similarly to the previous unit, this one also focuses on the activities that can allow the students to practice these skills. On the other hand, it gives the instructor an insight on the type of activities that can achieve those aims and when a specific activity is more or less suitable. When it comes to the speaking skills, it is important to be aware of the accuracy, but also on the fluency of the students. Thus, it is more important to focus on the accuracy in the study stage, where the students can focus on producing correct language and in the activate stage the instructor should focus on the fluency of the students, as here there is more space for the students to express themselves more creatively. Regarding the writing skills, it starts with teaching the most crucial writing skills, such as spelling, handwriting, punctuation and layout. It continues by giving a typical straight arrow ESA writing activity lesson. Lastly, it gives ideas on which games can be incorporated in the classroom in order to practice writing, as games are always a fun way for students to practice or learn new content. The most helpful part of this lesson for me were definitely the specific ideas and examples of what do to in order to elicit whatever you had envisioned for the students. Due to my academic background, I am very aware of concepts such as fluency and accuracy or the most essential parts of teaching writing. The lack of practice and training has not allowed me to work on the actual teaching and on being creative with ideas on how to teach these skills. Therefore, every example and idea are more than helpful and these past two lessons were definitely full of creative ideas and fun activities that I will most certainly try out.
