This unit introduces the main aspects of teaching special groups. More specifically, the types of classes with their peculiarities and suitable methodologies to apply for these class types are in the focus of this unit. In addition, there are common problems that can appear in a process of teaching specialized groups and possible solutions for them. Finally, many useful suggestions for what to do and not to do with different teaching groups are also included. When it comes to teaching beginner groups, it is essential to distinguish different types of 'beginners', and know how to work with them at the starting point and throughout the whole course. As for the aspect of not using students' L1, I have to say that some instructions and concepts can be quite difficult to explain without using students' native language, and at the same time, referring to my experience, can waste much time. As for teaching individual students, it is important to agree that low classroom dynamics can be a problem. The suggestions for giving individual lessons of this unit are particularly useful for me. For example, apart from understanding student's needs and weaknesses in English, it is also important to know how to make individual lessons dynamic, interesting and varied. Teaching children and giving Business English classes are two especially challenging and sometimes problematic areas for me and my colleagues. As it is stated in the unit materials, not only specific approaches and methodoligies have to be considered here, but also teacher's behavior and attitude. One more problem with BE course I came across in the past was lack of experience in business. Some of the students come to the language school as potential business industry workers. In other words, they have no experience in business negotiations, meetings and presentations, which means that a teacher needs to have a deeper understanding of some business processes for a more interesting and vivid conversations with a student. Finally, a part of the unit is devoted to multilingual and monolingual classes. Their differences in terms of cultural and language backgrounds, motivation and language environment have to be considered when preparing and managing classes.
