The unit has given me more insight as to how to utilise and effectively make use of the various teaching aids that are available. There are a host of different material and equipment that can be used; the important thing is to make sure to that it aids the desired outcome and not impede or detract from the actual learning objectives. I believe the key is to combine modern technology such as computers, smartphones and podcasts with traditional teaching aids such as the board. Thus they should be supplementary to your lesson. Preparing an interactive lesson which can be entertaining is one thing but at the end of the day the students should be presented with the learning objective in a way enabling them to reproduce it. Essentially there should be balance between using interactive technology and traditional methods and or methods. One can introduce different methods and aids in various stages of the lesson pan or syllabus. Some parts of speech also allows for more use of equipment such as computers, smart phones, DVD’s podcasts etc. depending on the stage of the syllabus. I feel it’s important to prepare lessons as well and effectively possible taking to in account and incorporating whatever extra learning material/equipment you intend to use. Bearing in mind that the students should be engaged and encouraged to reproduce what is taught. Different equipment can also be used as a backup in case an original lesson fails for an inexplicable reason.
