This unit is about receptive skills: reading and listening. I learned that there are four main skills when learning any language (reading, listening, writing and speaking). There are two main reasons why we use receptive skills: for a specific purpose or for entertainment. To make a lesson more engaging for students we must get to know them and their interests - to be able to combine the purpose of learning English with a topic that is actually interesting for the students. I also formally learned the different ways of reading, such as skimming and scanning, amongst others.
