Conditionals are sentences which contain "if" sentences. These refer to past, present and future possibilities. There are several conditionals; zero, first, second, third and mixed. English is not always written the way it is said. In most cases we have to change the Direct speech to a Reported speech. To change the speech from direct to reported several changes should take place, some of these are the tenses and words related to time and place for eg today will be changed to that day, now changed to then, and so on. The main problem in reported speech is in backshifting these tenses and changing the time and place words. In some cases no changes are necessary however, its never wrong to make the changes.
