This unit discussed the course materials for teaching an English class. Some may prefer to create their own curriculum, but others are either given curriculum to teach from or have the opportunity to pick their own. Text books and prepared curriculum should always be chosen for or adapted to the students as need by omitting, supplementing, replacing, or adapting the book for the classroom needs. Created materials are created with students in mind and can be easier for students because it is limited to what they know or are learning. Authentic materials are "naturally occurring" English texts not designed for a classroom and although they may be more difficult to master, they can help students build confidence in the real English-speaking world.
