This chapter felt like stepping into a doctor's office with a speech-impediment child. Many technical terms made it difficult to grasp the real meaning of what is essential for teaching. So much emphasis was placed on the jargon that teaching techniques and processes were put aside. Considering that most teachers don't have a grasp on phonology, some attention to the small details and medical language can be helpful for the teacher to have confidence. Mostly, making sure the students understand English isn't phonetic, and introducing them to different ways to learn how to pronounce words was the take away for me.
