This unit covers the many different test formats available in language schools to decipher a students current knowledge, progress, level of English and readiness to sit external language exams. It describes which test is used in certain circumstances and why, as well as how this is beneficial for the students. I have learnt that tests play a vital role in a schools curriculum and despite personal views that teachers may have on testing their students- certain formal tests must still be given to students. Furthermore I have learnt that tests can benefit in a students learning; by ensuring old lessons are revised and hence that information is obtained for longer and do gauge if the current teaching level is appropriate for the classes learning levels.
