This chapter provides information concerning the issues involved when teaching specialized groups. The chapter provides insight on four main groups; beginners, individual students, children, and Business English/ESP. Instruction is provided for each group that discusses evaluating the particular group, the characteristics of each group, discovering the needs and challenges specific to each group, methods and teaching techniques, suitable activities, and a general list of do's and don'ts.
The lesson covered issues concerning Business English/ESP students in more detail. The material in this section was particularly informative as it discussed the different dynamic of teaching English to 'clients' within a company or professional context. The "needs analysis' example, ideas concerning course planning, and how to conduct a class presented a more polished/professional approach that teaching this group would require.
