After watching the two videos it was very evident as to which lesson was most effective. It is important to understand how the teachers attitude affects the students motivation and ability to learn. In Video one the teacher was unwelcoming and did not introduce himself or care to learn the students names. He used complex words which would be extremely difficult for the student to comprehend and evidently cause confusion. He was unclear and poorly explained the instructions for the activities. He lacked engagement and use of body language as well his tone lacked variation, clarity and the pace was to fast. Most importantly he did not give opportunity for the students to participate and when they did, if the answer was incorrect, the feedback was negative or ignored. In the second video the teacher was clearly prepared and the lesson was more structured. He welcomed the students and made the effort to know their names and introduce himself. The began the lesson with an engage phase with a time limit to get students motivated. The class was delivered using appropriate words and simple language to ensure students easily understood. All instructions were made very clear before each activity. He also utilized prompts, flashcards and body language to make the lesson more interesting. This lesson was more effective because it was more student centered and all students were able to equally participate. Most importantly he monitored the student progress and use positive reinforcement to deal with incorrect errors. Overall you can see the correlations between successful teaching and student learning based on attitude and body language, shared interactions, teaching styles, clarity of instructions, types of activities, student participation in which all will affect the students motivation and abilities to learn.
