In my opinion these two materials are two of the most complex parts of English for learners. Most of students have big problems to understand both and I would say it is because of verb tenses. In every language verbs are maybe the most problematic area. English is not a language with many variations in verb tenses but Conditionals and Reported speech use shows a deeply knowledge and control of them by the user.
