In this unit I learned about teaching special groups. There are many different types of groups including teaching business English, adult beginners, children, individual students, and multilingual classes. Each of these groups have different focuses and different needs. For example, children are generally not motivated to learn English as it is not their choice. Adults in business English classes may not be as motivated as other students are because they have very busy lives with work and family responsibilities. Teaching students individually also requires a different teaching method because activities used to teach a group of students would not have the same effectiveness in this situation.
