There are different ways of evaluating progress and students' language level. Unit 15 discussed this. One manner of evaluating progress or language level is by means of a test. There are different types of test, each having its own goal. For example, a placement is given in order to be aware of students' language level and place students accordingly in the respected class which offers their level. Whereas a periodic progress test is given to students to measure their progress. Other test that are given to students are practice tests, diagnostic tests and achievement tests. Then there are test which are offered by organisations such as Cambridge. These are proficiency tests. Cambridge Assessment was mentioned and external examinations include ESOL. Unit 15 lastly gave a sample examination.
