Conditionals and reporting speech can both become tricky for students as the time involved allows for a large number of conjugation errors. As teachers we need to be confident in these different tenses and changes ourselves, so we can help the students to achieve confidence in this difficult area, as well. Making sure to focus enough on each point is also important, especially when reporting, to allow time for the information to sink in and for the students to properly practice all the difficult changes they have to make to the original sentence.
