Unit 12 is centred around the productive skills of speaking and writing and explains purposes for why people communicate. Unit 12 gives two examples of a speaking activity lesson and a creative writing lesson.
I have learned the key differences between accuracy activities and fluency activities and which respective stage of an ESA lesson they belong to. I have also learned that it is important to know why students make lack the confidence to engage in a conversation with the teacher or other students, which may be due to fear of making mistakes or cultural sensitivities. This unit taught me various techniques that I can use to encourage students to interact with each other and the importance of planning my lessons carefully.
