In this unit I learned about the receptive skills - reading and listening. Although it was one of the shorter chapters, there was still a lot of information for me to digest. One of my biggest takeaway from this unit was text selection. The text mentioned using authentic and non-authentic texts to expose students to more learning. Although authentic texts are not designed for language students, these types of texts could bolster their confidence and skills more so then non-authentic texts. Both are beneficial and, if correctly used, can positively affect students learning.
