Even though we listen to many things every day and it is something so natural, like music, movies, people, it is not easy when it is a second language. Giving the students the necessary vocabulary and tools to understand, it is not an easy job. Being careful with the texts we give them and the way we introduce them into the class (ESA) can also affect their motivation (imagine yourself reading or listening to something you do not like or you do not understand it because the language level is too high and you do not have the vocabulary to understand), and to give them texts or topics of their interest, music or movies instead (like the example about Tom Cruises’ movie). In this unit, I have learnt to see the importance of these receptive skills. I knew they were important, but for people in a learning process can be something that can change their lives.
